The difference between cold-rolled steel and hot rolled steel

The cold mechanical properties of hot rolled steel sheet is less than the cold rolled, but also inferior forging, but has good toughness and ductility cold-rolled steel sheet due to a certain degree of hardening, low toughness, but can achieve a better yield than prone to accidents and other parts for cold-formed spring, and because the yield point closer to the tensile strength, of course, there is no danger of predictability in the load exceeds the allowable load.

The difference between cold-rolled steel and hot rolled steel
1) cold plate surface without the use of cold rolling and processing scale, good quality. Hot plate with hot ligation work surface oxide, thickness have under poor.
2) hot-rolled sheet toughness and surface roughness of the poor, lower prices, and cold rolled sheet stretching, good toughness, but more expensive.
3) rolled into cold-rolled and hot-rolled, in order to distinguish between the recrystallization temperature point.
4) cold-rolled: generally used for the production of cold-rolled strip, its high rolling speed, hot: hot forging temperature and the temperature of similar
5) Do not plated hot rolling plate surface into a dark brown, not plated cold rolled plate surface is the gray. Plating can be distinguished from the smoothness of the surface smoothness of cold rolled plate is higher than the hot rolling plate.

  1. It's amazing to me what shapes and designs you can do with cold rolled steel. From your article, it sounds like that's a result of the way the steel is made. It sounds like cold rolled steel is more easily shaped, but it might not be good for structural steel. I think it would be cool to make a spiral stair case with cold rolled steel for the banister and the rails. http://www.acmetals.com
